The Rathskeller was an eatery/pub in the Student Union building when I attended Wright State University. I didn't know the exact etymology, though it was obviously of German origin. As a commuter student with a family, I didn't often frequent "The Rat."I'm not going to include the definition of Monday's word, the quite common culprit, but I found its etymology interesting, as well as its surprising magical relative.
