I was led to this definition by the Name That Synonym question at the end of today's WOTD write-up. While most everyone I know will be familiar with this WOTD, I found its etymological path interesting; I guess familiar words that developed their current definition through misunderstanding intrigue me. (And I'm pretty sure I've never encountered this meaning of "kidney" before.)
